Across pop culture, music and entertainment have been staples that define a generation, or even a decade. All over the world, there are musicians and celebrities who have made a huge impact not only on popular culture, but on society as a whole. Music and artists not only influence or influence a particular industry, but other pop cultures that influence or influence society, and in some cases can be part of history. Choose an artist/celebrity who you believe has made a significant contribution to popular culture and society. Were they part of a social or political movement?
Example: Lady Gaga was an active advocate for free speech and the LGBTQ community, advocating for gender and racial equality. In the face of many tragic events over the years, musicians and celebrities have spoken out for the cause. This is your opinion, even if you used text quotes and conducted research to support your opinion.

Describe a brief biography of your pop culture character and write a 2-4 page essay about him that somehow relates to pop culture or a social/political movement. The thesis should be clear and the essay should be coherent and well organized. We need research from external sources that can be incorporated into our research efforts. We welcome your input on this document, as long as you can provide facts to support your thinking. Overall, the purpose of this essay is to demonstrate the contributions artists have made to popular culture.

Questions to consider are:

1. How did the artist create the music/movies/etc? Influenced?
2. How does your artist influence other areas of “pop culture”? B. Movies, commercials, television, fashion, trends, etc. 3. For what purpose did your artist support…how did you support them?
3. Did your artist have a positive or negative impact on society?
