Family Immigration Experience History Find out about your personal or family immigration experience. Write a 1500-word essay (5-page spread) summarizing your own immigration experience or that of your ancestors. Use at least five peer-reviewed academic secondary sources (non-textbooks), such as books and articles. Additionally, oral materials, diaries, and other materials that reveal the family’s immigration experience may be used. If you can’t find very specific information about your family’s migration experience, write a paper that places that particular story in a larger context, such as when, where, and why the migration occurred.

You can write about just one family tree, or you can write about multiple families. You must have citations in your essay. Otherwise, your essay will not receive a passing grade. Do not overuse quotes. Assignments must be typed and double spaced. Standard font 12 point, italic or non-italic, double-spaced, standard margins 2.5 cm, paper 11 x 8 1/2 inches. Please be sure to write your name, course name, essay title, and instructor’s name on the cover page. You should use at least 5 texts (books and/or journal articles) when writing your essay. You may argue whatever you position you like, as long as you can back your arguments with reasonable and credible evidence. Please note that the key to good research is to be as exhaustive and critical as possible. Randomly selecting a few ready-made sauces is not productive. Good research requires skill. Finding and reading the best research papers possible takes time and effort. A good essay is like a legal argument, based on the presentation of evidence in accordance with the rules of evidence in briefing.
