After reading Tao Lin’s When I Moving Online, I gained a better perspective for understanding my own and my parents’ online behavior (Lin 2013). I have been using computers and the Internet for many purposes for quite some time now. Since the beginning, I have been a frequent internet user at home. My father and mother used them both at work and in private. During my childhood, I was able to use the internet to teach different subjects and improve my learning. I used the help of computers in the same way my parents produced the reports and analyzes they needed for their jobs. We also use the internet for entertainment and relaxation by watching movies and listening to songs. It was also an important part of communication. Despite this habit, her perspective and mine changed as I grew up.
At a young age, I became aware of social media sites. When I joined Facebook and her Instagram, I realized her parents were already there too. When they learned I was visiting social media pages, they took the time to understand what I should be careful about on social media and how to keep myself and the system safe. told me. Through my experience, I learned that the Internet also has negative characteristics. My parents had warned me about it beforehand. I didn’t attach much importance to it. When I encountered credit card fraud while shopping online, I became more cautious. Another difference I’ve noticed between myself and my parents when using the internet and social media has to do with how we think about how we share our lives online. Following the same tradition as my generation, I carefully follow internet influencers and recent trends to share my daily life, and my parents rarely share photos of their special day.
There are also small differences that you will notice when using email. For me, email can be used for both formal and informal purposes. I think it’s perfectly fine to use these when inviting guests. Because it gives you the opportunity to warmly invite with a graphic invitation while saving time visiting all your invitees. My parents are against this and want me to do it privately. I understand the temptation to invite you personally, but my current and upcoming even more hectic schedules get in the way quite a bit in this regard. And people I know also appreciate this practice because they rarely have time to visit guests when they want. There are likely many other psychological differences between me and my parents regarding Internet and social media use that can only be understood through future experience.

Through critical thinking, we are able to make informed decisions and generate better understanding based on facts and logic (Cottrell 2017).
